Strong recovery by Tommy Searle in France

Fifth in timed training, Tommy Searle of Bike It DRT Kawasaki made a strong recovery to tenth in MXGP qualification in France as both the Brit and Clement Desalle suffered setbacks on the opening lap.

The FIM World Motocross Championships reach the halfway stage this weekend in the tenth of twenty rounds at the fast hillside track thirty kilometres from the Atlantic coastline at St Jean D'Angely. Kawasaki riders had shown their speed during practice for the MXGP class as Desalle of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team and Searle posted fourth and fifth fastest times, but Searle found himself fourteenth and Desalle thirty-second at the end of a hectic opening lap. Searle pushed strongly into the top ten, while Desalle advanced to nineteenth to earn a decent choice of gate for tomorrow's two GP motos. Desalle's teammate Julien Lieber withdrew after practice because of discomfort from a shoulder injury sustained last week in England.

Ruben Fernandez was left alone to represent the F&H Racing Team in MX2 but the GP rookie showed great spirit to start fifth and maintain a good pace to the finish to earn seventh choice of start gate tomorrow. Jed Beaton was absent after suffering a broken right ankle and fracture to the left tibia and fibula in England last week, while Adam Sterry was advised to rest after suffering in the heat on his first race back from injury and DRT's Darian Sanayei decided not to race as he will undergo a knee operation next week.
