4 July 2012 W800 Project bike moves to next stage

COLOUR Vote Result: Green. NAME Vote Result: Spirit:
The W800 Project bike now has a name a colour and a new flush of energy according to the guys at Spirit of the Seventies who are fashioning the bespoke machine using a combination of their own ideas and input from fans of the W800 Blog and the Facebook page Kawasaki News UK.

Kevin Taggart, the design guru at Spirit of the Seventies is excited about the input from fans and is expecting some great strides to be made in the coming weeks as parts return from fabricators and re-finishers.

“We’ve got modded stuff going off for powder coat right now and the new exhaust system is being bent and welded by a Formula One car engineer so we are hoping for great things with that too. Some ideas are running in a straight line while other concepts are being altered as we go from either an engineering or aesthetic point of view.

It’s great to see the interest of the Kawasaki News UK Facebook page and the blog. Over the coming weeks we recommend people keep logging in as the major part of the big jigsaw is re-assembled. I’ve got some ideas in the back of my head on how to do an interpretation of a green paint job that blends old and new styles so I am keen to get the prep done on the tank and side panels.

As for the Spirit name, I think myself and the other driving force of the Spirit of the Seventies project team, Tim Rogers, are quite honoured that this name was voted top over all the others that were suggested – we will do our utmost to create the ultimate “Spirit W800” over the coming weeks.”
