8 May 2014 Plans for Kawasaki Golf Classic in full swing

Following a strong response after the announcement of the inaugural Kawasaki Golf Classic in support of motocross rider, Mark Hucklebridge and the Forever Friends Appeal of the Royal United Hospital (RUH), plans have now moved to the next stage.
With a stellar motocross career, 35 year old Mark’s achievements set him aside as one of the most impressive riders of his generation. Recently diagnosed with inoperable cancer, the former Kawasaki Team Green rider has dedicated himself to raising funds for the RUH via their Forever Friends Appeal.

With an event date of 16 July and the Reading Gold Club making its plans to prepare the course, tournament manager, Richard Metcalfe of Kawasaki Motors UK, is going about the business of making team places available to groups of players from the off-road world and wider business community.

“Already we have interest expressed in half of the team places”, remarked Metcalfe. “Likewise a good number of the holes and other sponsorship opportunities have been spoken for. However, we are now at the crucial stage where we push forward to close out all the playing spots and other chances to contribute to this great cause”.

With Kawasaki having already played a role in one of the largest fund raising activities in support of Hucklebridge and the Forever Friends Appeal, the Kawasaki Golf Classic is moving things forward another step according to Metcalfe.

“We supported the efforts of the Marshfield Club at their annual Mike Brown memorial event recently where a considerable sum was raised. Now the challenge is to add further to those efforts in aid of the work that the RUH do with cancer patients like Mark.

So far support has been considerable and I would urge anyone who is interested in participating to look at the details on the dedicated web site at www.kawasakigolfclassic.org and contact me to book their place.

We are determined to make this an amazing day’s golf and, equally, a significant contributor to Mark’s chosen charity. So please download the entry form that’s on the web site and call me to ensure you are part of what will be a memorable event.”
