8 June 2016 Ninja ZX-10R making of video

Following the successful world launch of the 2016 Ninja ZX-10R and its current domination of the WorldSBK Championship, Kawasaki has released a making of film giving a unique “behind the scenes” look at the dramatic official promotional photo and video.
Allowing fans to get even closer to the action at the famous Portimão track, the production features the riding talents of reigning World SBK champion Jonathan Rea and one of the fastest ever riders around the famous Isle of Man TT course, James Hillier.

Using both the KRT Edition and Winter Edition of the latest Ninja road-going superbike, the riders were asked to manoeuvre their machines within centimeters of each other in a series of complex moves that, when edited, became a final cut of one minute and thirty-two seconds of high impact action.

With an eighteen person production team and track temperatures’ reaching almost fifty-one degrees Celsius, it was as punishing for the camera team as for the riders cocooned for hours in their protective riding gear.

“Jonathan took to the task like a true professional”, said Frank Zoontjes who oversaw the project for Kawasaki Motors Europe. “He made suggestions from his racing experience in order to make scenes even more dramatic and did not object to countless takes of the same scene in order to make the best video possible.

James Hillier was the perfect riding partner for Jonathan and we have worked with him before on the award winning Ninja ZX-6R video based on the Isle of Man TT course and numerous other photo and video productions for Kawasaki. We hope this making of video shows at least some of the fun we had in making the final production as well as the many challenges we faced as a team and subsequently overcame.”
