11 May 2018 Kawasaki SRC in contention for Slovakia 8 hour

The famous Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR N°11 of the Kawasaki SRC team will start tomorrow in 5th position on the grid for the Slovakia 8 hour within just half a second of the pole position time.

Competing for the world championship of Endurance, this is the third event of the season for Gilles Stafler and his loyal team.

Randy de Puniet, Jérémy Guarnoni and Julien da Costa claimed this strong grid position during two days of qualifying and practice; Julien being  drafted in following  an injury to  Mathieu Gines' little finger.

Arriving on Monday, May 7th, at the rural track situated 45 minutes from Bratislava the capital of Slovakia, the SRC team quickly adapted to the conditions with da Costa soon getting up to speed.

In fact tyres soon became the centre of the team’s attentions. Over a 5.9 kilometer lap the three riders had to preserve the rubber considering the limited number of tyres allocated per race  most notably in the summer-like conditions of practice. The final part of practice was dedicated to engine settings.

For television viewers the race will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 and May 12th starting at  20.30.

You can also follow the race on the FIM live timing ( https://www.fimewc.fr/live-timing/ ) as well on Kawasaki France Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/KawasakiFranceOfficiel/ ) and via the Kawasaki SRC Team https://www.facebook.com/teamkawasakisrc/ )

The last word goes to Julien DA COSTA :

« I am very happy to join the team which I really appreciate. I was engaged with SRC five years ago. Gilles Stafler called me last Saturday evening, I said yes immediately because I was contractually free. I was warmly welcomed by Randy and Jérémy with who I have a good feeling! On the bike there is no problem to adapt because the No11 Ninja is perfect. Furthermore, I know the Pirelli tyres very well. I am sure that we shall have a very good rhythm for the race. Now it is necessary to confirm all the hopes placed on us and to aim again for the highest step of the podium. »
