13 August 2013 Continued success for Kawasaki at Oulton Park

The seventh round of the British Superbike Championship kicked off in earnest at the Cheshire circuit of Oulton Park this past weekend. A much anticipated triple header for the Superbike class, plus the usual two Supersport races and Superstock classes were to prove once again very successful for Kawasaki.
Shane “Shakey” Byrne was on fine form, and took a fantastic podium position in the Saturday race, finishing a very close second to James Ellison. Shakey’s form was to continue into the Sunday when he again took further podium finishes with an excellent race win and another second. With closest rival Alex Lowes crashing out on Sunday, it proved to be a lucrative weekend for the Kent based rider.

In the fiercely contested Supersport class, Gearlink Kawasaki rider, Alastair Seeley showed a vast amount of racecraft and maturity to take a well earned race win and a second over the two day racing festival. In doing so, Seeley has extended his Championship lead to 47 points over rival Stuart Easton, with team mate Ben Wilson suffering an up and down weekend sitting in third in the title chase.

The Superstock 1000 class showed us some of the closest racing all weekend as we have come to expect, but unfortunately our winning streak came to end as we had to “settle” for second and third on the podium, with SMT Racing’s Adam Jenkinson in second and WD40 Kawasaki rider Tommy Aquino in third. Jenkinson still has a stronghold over the Championship with an 8 point lead with 5 rounds remaining. Kawasaki ZX-10R’s remain dominant in this class with 8 of the top 10 title contenders aboard the Ninja machine.

Finishing off the day in style, Gearlink Kawasaki rider, Luke Hedger took a second win in a row in the Junior Superstock class in emphatic style! In his first year in this class, Luke is now sitting a mere 4 points behind the Championship leader, lining up what could be a perfect score for Kawasaki in the 2013 season with a potential four Championship wins looming!
