13 November 2018 Ben Wilson returns to racing with Gearlink Kawasaki in 2019

After recovering from injuries sustained in a crash at the 2016 Northwest 200, Ben Wilson will make a much anticipated return to the Dickies British Supersport Championship for the 2019 season.

It has been a long and arduous recovery process for Wilson, who will once again compete at the highest level thanks to sheer determination and perseverance. The Englishman can now be confident that he will enter the 2019 season totally primed to rub elbows at the front of the 600cc class once again.

Wilson enjoys a rich history in the 600cc Supersport class, only narrowly missing out on the Championship title by 1 point in 2011 and taking race wins, plus podiums across a number of seasons throughout his career.

2019 will be a promising campaign for both rider and team as they continue to chase the Championship win that has eluded them to this point.

Ben Wilson is counting down the days until he can eagerly work towards achieving his dream, saying, “After the longest break I’ve ever had from motorcycle racing, it’s great to be returning and riding a Kawasaki. I’ve waited until now to make a comeback because my leg has not been ready for me to run at the sharp end, but I know with a good testing program over the winter months I will be right where I need to be. I can’t wait to get out on the new Gearlink Kawasaki and get the 2019 campaign under way. Big thanks to Gearlink Kawasaki and Kawasaki UK for standing by me and giving me this fantastic opportunity.”

Kawasaki Motors UK Senior Racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge is pleased with Wilson’s decision to pick up where he left off, saying, "I am so happy to see Ben back racing for 2019! Ben has been a big part of the Team Green family for many years, and I for one have always wanted to witness him take the Supersport title. His injury was horrendous and would see most people not come back to racing, but Ben has shown amazing willpower over the past couple of years to get back to where he is now. He's been on the Gearlink Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R already and is showing good pace, so I can't wait to see him out on track at round 1 next year."
