There to drink in the atmosphere alongside a raft of trackside race fans – and take advantage of a very special “members only” event – were some 600 Kawasaki Riders Club members. With full exclusive hospitality from dawn to dusk in the famous Silverstone “Wing” and special access to their own Grandstand seating area, the day was also interspersed with other money can’t buy attractions according to Aimee Osmond of Kawasaki Motors UK.

“Despite a punishing schedule and all the pressures of racing, not only did the KRC members have the delight of a live on-stage exclusive interview with Tom Sykes, but also a rare opportunity to listen to and meet top World Supersport star Kenan Sofuoglu. Along with a bespoke parking area and clever touches like a dedicated dressing room for motorcycle gear and an on-site Kawasaki clothing shop, the KRC also acknowledged that heritage plays an important part with an often humorous interview – or rather an entertaining “monologue” - from ex Kawasaki BSB race team Manager, Colin Wright”.

One thing nobody could stage manage was the good old British weather though and, as has been common this summer, it rained at Silverstone in a way that only UK race fans can endure. Luckily the Supersport race remained largely unaffected, but both Superbike outings suffered major delays and hardship due to the changing weather, as the Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK, Michael Johnstone, explains.

“For our guests who could use the balcony overlooking the pit lane and had the indoor area to retreat to, the delays and interruptions simply added to the excitement of the day. To be rewarded with a historic first WSBK win from Loris Baz in the initial Superbike race and a podium in the second was icing on the cake. It certainly supplied that final piece of the jig-saw for many to make a perfect days racing”.

With much positive feedback already on Kawasaki News UK, the official Facebook page for Kawasaki Motors UK, plans are already being discussed for a possible event next year, as Michael Johnstone concludes.

“The Kawasaki Riders Club exists to meet the needs, desires and expectations of our customers. They are an amazingly loyal bunch and being swelled all the time by newcomers to the fold who quickly understand the emotions that the brand engenders.

By creating gatherings like this, the staff of the KRC not only deliver amazing events that satisfy the hunger of dyed in the wool Kawasaki fans, they also allow KRC members to meet each other and share in what we feel is one of the most vibrant and forward looking owners clubs of any motorcycle manufacturer.”
