5 MINUTES WITH LUCIO PEDERCINI

Known across the World Superbike paddock, Lucio Pedercini and his Pedercini Kawasaki squad have established themselves as one of the most popular teams in the production bike based series. We caught up with Lucio to talk racing, Team Management and his plans for the future…
“Team Pedercini actually started whilst I was still racing, but when I retired in 2006 it was a natural progression to move into Team Management. Racing has always been my life, so to end it when I stopped riding wasn’t an option! I think living in direct contact with the racing world, spending time around the paddock and knowing the ‘ins and outs’ of a race really helps me as a manager.

Although we have raced with other manufacturers the switch to Kawasaki was a big jump forward for us. It was a new method of working, but it taught us some important and new strategies as well as improving technically, our image and sponsors!

One of the things we’ve always tried to do is help young riders come through. I know the thinking of a rider and the feelings they express when they are talking so I can help to interpret this knowledge of track and machine, which is very important. There are lots of really impressive riders coming through at the moment, but I think Lorenzo Savadori is certainly a star of the future.

For me, every part of managing a team is rewarding. To succeed is a real challenge but when you achieve your goals it is a great feeling. Naturally there are some frustrating parts, but the good outweighs the bad!

We’ve progressed each season and my goal is to keep doing that, working our way up to the front of the World Superbike Championship!
