5 MINUTES WITH JESPER HUBNER

At just 17 years old, Jesper Hubner became the youngest Swedish Superbike Champion earlier this year. Demonstrating incredible talent from a young age, his future looks bright…
“I first started riding motorbikes and racing thanks to my grandfather, who took me to the speedway track as a kid to watch and was hooked! I first started with an 85cc speedway bike, but always felt the need for higher speed so began road racing with a minimoto and never looked back.

Every time I’m out on track, it’s a highlight for me but certainly this year has been something extra special, particularly the last two races of the season where I secured a double victory at my home track!

This was my first year in Superbike, so we started it with some preseason testing in Spain. Unfortunately two big highsides from me meant the bike was ruined and I didn’t manage many laps before the start of the season! Despite that I felt really good on the bike and we were able to win the opening race – going on to take six victories from ten races and a further three podiums!

The Swedish racing scene is growing and we have some really fast riders in the big class, which makes for some great racing. My ultimate goal is to be competitive in the World Championships, and of course MotoGP, but we will have to see. For now, all I know is next year I’ll be on a green machine.

Away from track I spend as much time working on my racing as possible, trying to make myself a better rider. But if I’m not working on the racing side of things, I like to just relax, meet up with some friends and just have fun!”
