Romain Febvre qualifies second in Indonesia

Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre earnt second choice-of-gate for each of tomorrow’s GP motos in the twelfth round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Samota-Sumbawa in Indonesia.

The immaculate Frenchman revelled around the spectacular circuit overlooking the Sea of Bali, confidently launching over all of the massive jumps aboard the KX450-SR on his way to a clear-cut second place, headed only by the championship leader as the duo outdistanced all chasers in humid conditions on a perfectly-prepared track.

Romain Febvre: “After the first GP I was pretty beaten-up physically and it took me a few days to recover but I had a good week-and-a-half training back home before flying out here and I’m feeling more-and-more confident with every hour on the bike. The track looked amazing already when we arrived and it’s really nice to ride, particularly as there are only two classes racing this weekend so it isn’t getting too rough. I had a good Qualifying moto today, second all-the-way; I made a few mistakes but that’s normal at this stage of my return to racing. I don’t have any expectations results-wise for tomorrow; I’m just taking my time and hope to get a good start to be safe and out-of-trouble. “

KRT teammate Ben Watson qualified thirteenth as F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jed Beaton advanced impressively during the later stages of the race to earn tenth-choice of gate for tomorrow’s GP motos.

F&H Kawasaki’s Kevin Horgmo qualified fifth in a tight battle for third around the spectacular track in Qualifying for the the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship round, while Big Van World MTX Kawasaki’s Mikkel Haarup will go to the gate fourteenth.

Kevin Horgmo: “I was struggling with the track a little in the morning but I got a decent start in the Qualifying race and felt more-and-more comfortable as the day progressed. Now I can focus on tomorrow and look forward to a good start to be up there challenging for the podium. The track was really slippery for the first few laps but that’s normal on a brand-new track; the layout is really nice and it just needed to be ‚raced-in’. For sure it’s going to get better-and-better as the weekend progresses and I hope we can put on a great show for a big crowd tomorrow. They already made us so welcome at the opening ceremony in town; so many happy people. “
