19 July 2017 Wildcard ride for Olympian Jason Kenny in Kawasaki Team Green Cup

Professional track cyclist, Jason Kenny, swapped pedal-power for horse-power this week as he obtained his ACU race licence, enabling him to enter a Kawasaki Team Green Cup race on August 4-5 at Oulton Park as a wildcard ride.
Completing his ACU licence with MSV Trackdays at Brands Hatch on Monday, Jason was required to complete both a Classroom Training Course (CTC) and the Basic Rider Assessment (BRA). He completed the track element of the course aboard a race-ready Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR.

Jason will be lining up on the grid in August with over 30 competitors - aged from 13 to 50 plus - six-time Olympic gold medallist Kenny will be up against some serious racers, who have plenty of experience aboard the Kawasaki Ninja 300 machine.

The Team Green Junior Cup, run by the British Motorcycle Racing Club, is currently in its sixth season and has grown racing talents including 2015 National Superstock 600 Champion, Mason Law. Originally starting as a series for 13-18 year olds, due to popular demand the senior cup was introduced in 2016 meaning that racers of any age can take part.

It will be the first time that Jason will have raced a powered two-wheeler competitively, a challenge he’s extremely excited about:

“Getting my ACU licence has got me even more excited about the race as I’m one step closer now and I’m looking forward to getting out on track. I was pretty excited anyway to be honest, but it’s all taking shape.

“Ahead of the race now, my plan is to get as much advice as possible from a few of the Kawasaki racers. It’s going to be a great life experience – my goal is to go out there and enjoy it, get stuck in and have fun.”
