6 July 2015 Kawasaki top of the tables following stellar performances in Scotland

The 2015 British Superbike Championship headed to Knockhill for the fifth round and despite the mixed weather conditions, it was a series of ‘hot’ results for the Kawasaki-mounted riders taking the lead in all four major Championships.
In the Superbike class, the PBM Kawasaki team riders, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Stuart Easton, started as they meant to go on by qualifying first and second on the grid. In race one and two, they maintained their positions and finished first and second in both respectively.

This victorious result leaves Shakey 35 points clear of the chasing field in the Championship with 201 points and Easton in third place with 139.

In the Supersport class, hard charging Gearlink Kawasaki rider, Glenn Irwin had an impressive weekend. He stormed to the top spot of the podium in Saturday's sprint race and just missed out on taking his first double win on Sunday losing out on the final few laps to eventually take a credible third. Irwin is now top of the Supersport standings with just a one point lead – there are just three points separating the top three riders.

There was yet further success in the Superstock classes for Kawasaki, with their 600cc and 1000cc road bike based models proving they are a force to be reckoned with.

In the Superstock 1000 class, Northern Irish Josh Elliott continued his excellent run of form and rode to an emphatic victory. His two closest rivals were non-scorers meaning he now has a 37 point lead in the Championship.

In the Superstock 600 class, it was local hero Tarran Mackenzie who took his maiden win in the class at the 1.3 mile circuit, understandably making his dad (and ex-motorcycle racer) Niall very proud. Mason Law, who has had four wins already this season settled for third on the day amidst slightly tricky conditions as the rain began to fall, with the race eventually being red flagged due to the rain.

Racing Co-ordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge, said: "It really was another fantastic weekend for Kawasaki, I am very happy for the PBM team, as this was their first double 1-2 finish, and it was thoroughly deserved. Our continued domination in both the Superstock classes is excellent, and testament to our strong Ninja machines in road based trim. Going in to round 6 leading all four major Championships is very exciting and I can't wait to see what happens at Brands Hatch in two weeks time."

The next round takes place at Brands Hatch on July 17-19. For more information or to book your tickets, visit: www.britishsuperbike.com
