With a dominant end to the season which culminated in back to back wins at the last Brands Hatch “home” round for Shakey, the Championship was won by a Kawasaki rider for the first time in twenty years.
Underlining the competiveness of the Ninja ZX-10R package, the overall manufacturer’s trophy also went to Kawasaki by virtue of the sheer number of teams that raced the highly praised ultimate Superbike.
Presenting the trophy to Kawasaki Motors UK Branch Manager, Howard Dale, at Motorcycle Live, Series Director for the British Superbike Championship, Stuart Higgs remarked that 2012 marked a boom year for Kawasaki with wins in three of the four major championships, superbike, Superstock 1000 and Stock 600.
“It’s certainly been an amazing year for Kawasaki riders, teams and fans that’s for sure”, said Dale.
“There is a long list of people to thank, chiefly the riders and teams that put so much into another hard-fought season, but also MSV who ensured that every round displayed the best of UK racing right until the nail-biting finale at Brands Hatch.
We are naturally delighted that PBM Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki achieved so much with wins in Superbike and Superstock 1000 plus the Chris Walker race school rider, Lee Jackson, achieved a sensational Championship win in Stock 600.
It just goes to prove that with the right riders, right team and, crucially, the right machine, success in the best domestic race series in the world is a very real prospect. Naturally we are delighted that in near stock form Kawasaki rose to the top in two significant classes which only underlines what superb machines the Ninja ZX-6R and Ninja ZX-10R are.
We’d like to think that all Kawasaki customers and fans will share in this success as if it was not for them we would not be racing.”
